    Plot Summary

    • In 2016, Kiran Singh Baiswal (Boman Irani), a National Sports Ministry Official, is reprimanded by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Vishnukant Tiwari (Tinnu Anand) after India's poor performance at the Olympic Games. During a visit to a town in Andhra Pradesh, Kiran observes groups of local youth undergoing intense athletic training. When he asks about the source of their motivation, each of them credits an individual named Peddi. Determined to understand who inspired these athletes, Kiran travels through forests and hills before reaching a remote, unnamed hilltop village, where he begins learning about Peddi's life and the events that shaped the community. The story moves back to 1994, when the village exists as a marginalized tribal hamlet in the Vizianagaram region without official recognition. The residents face social discrimination, economic exploitation, and violence from neighboring upper caste landlords. The community remains disconnected from wider society because it has no legal identity, official name, or railway connection. Appalasoori (Jagapathi Babu), a resident of the hamlet, has spent three decades submitting petitions to government authorities requesting recognition for the village, a registered name, and a railway station that would connect the community with the outside world. Among the villagers is Peddi (Ram Charan), who works as an aata coolie while displaying exceptional cricketing ability. He competes in regional tournaments for wages and maintains an undefeated record, becoming known among the local community for his athletic skill. During this period, Peddi develops a relationship with Achiyamma (Janhvi Kapoor), the daughter of local politician Subhadra Rao (Rao Ramesh). Achiyamma becomes targeted by Ram Bujji (Divyenndu), the nephew of her father's political rival. During a public gathering, Ram Bujji attempts to humiliate Achiyamma by disrobing her. Peddi intervenes to stop him, leading to a violent confrontation between them. Following the incident, Ram Bujji seeks revenge by arranging for Peddi to be publicly humiliated during a local cricket tournament. He ensures Peddi's defeat in the match, but the loss does not change the support Peddi receives from the villagers. Gournaidu (Shiva Rajkumar), a veteran wrestler attempting to revive Vizianagaram's traditional wrestling practices, observes Peddi's physical ability and recognizes his potential as an athlete. He approaches Peddi and offers to train him in wrestling. Peddi initially refuses the offer and continues with his existing life in the village. The villagers later face another hardship when a child dies in the forest while the community is returning from work. After the child's death, Appalasoori again approaches local authorities with his petitions for recognition and development. His request is rejected, and he is publicly humiliated. After decades of unsuccessful attempts to secure recognition for the village, Appalasoori steps in front of a speeding train and dies. Following Appalasoori's death, Peddi and the villagers respond by setting fire to railway tracks. The act brings a violent police response against the community. The incident reinforces the difficulty of gaining recognition through ordinary appeals, and Peddi decides to pursue another path to secure legal identity for the village. Peddi approaches Gournaidu and begins intensive wrestling training. Under Gournaidu's guidance, he develops his skills and advances through local and state level wrestling competitions. His progress leads him toward national level competition, where he seeks to achieve recognition through his athletic success. Before Peddi can secure a national victory, Ranadheer Sisodia (Ravi Kishan), a rival connected to Gournaidu's competition, deliberately injures Peddi's leg. The injury leaves Peddi with severe physical damage that threatens the continuation of his wrestling career. Despite the injury, Peddi competes in the tournament semi finals and wins before collapsing unconscious. After regaining consciousness, Peddi learns that the injury has permanently ended his wrestling career. A government desk position is offered to him as compensation, but he rejects the offer. He separates from Achiyamma and travels to Delhi to meet Union Railway Minister Alok Kumar Mehta (Zakir Hussain), seeking recognition for his village. Alok Kumar Mehta dismisses Peddi's request and rejects the appeal for official recognition of the village. He also mocks Peddi's physical condition and treats the injury as an excuse rather than a barrier that Peddi has overcome. With no other option available, Peddi chooses to have the damaged leg amputated. He later receives a running blade prosthetic and begins training as a para track athlete. In 1996, Peddi enters a national track race using his prosthetic blade and wins the competition. During the victory speech broadcast to the public, Peddi uses the opportunity to reveal that his village still lacks legal recognition. He describes the difficulties faced by the residents and brings attention to the community's long struggle for an official identity. The broadcast reaches the villagers, Achiyamma, who has publicly declared herself Peddi's wife, and Ram Bujji, who has changed after witnessing Peddi's determination and achievements. Following the public attention created by Peddi's speech, the central government officially recognizes the village and approves construction of a railway station. When the government offers to name the railway station after Peddi, he refuses and instead requests that the village be renamed Appalavalasa in memory of Appalasoori. The decision preserves the memory of the person who spent decades attempting to secure recognition for the community. Peddi returns to the village and receives a celebratory welcome from the residents. He reunites with his mother and Achiyamma. In the present day, Kiran Singh Baiswal is inspired by Peddi's journey and decides to establish a national initiative focused on identifying and supporting grassroots sports talent from remote villages across India.
