Inspired by real events in the life of Breathless (1960) star and French New Wave icon Jean Seberg , who in the late 1960s was targeted by Hoover's FBI, because of her political and romantic involvement with civil rights activist Hakim Jamal. Because of her commitment to the Black Panther Party, the U.S. actress Jean Seberg (1938-1979) was caught in the crosshairs of the FBI at the end of the 1960s. She is not only monitored by the security agency, but ultimately defamed and terrorized. The film biography tells of the last years in the life of the film star from two perspectives, focusing alongside Seberg on an FBI agent who increasingly finds his task unbearable.
