    Plot Summary

    • Millions of years ago, dinosaurs roamed an area until they were wiped out, and the Ice Age took hold. With the end of the Ice Age, the landscape turned green once again.Much later, the area became home to the Lenni-Lenape people, and the story follows a man and woman through their courtship, family life, and ultimately the woman's death. The land then became part of the estate of William Franklin, the illegitimate son of Benjamin Franklin and the last colonial governor of New Jersey from 1763 to 1776.Around the turn of the 20th century, a home that becomes the center of most of the film's action was built. Its first tenants were John Harter and his wife, Pauline. Mr. Harter was obsessed with flight and later died of the Spanish flu.Subsequent inhabitants of the house included a bohemian couple, Leo, an inventor, and Stella Beekman, a pin-up model, who lived there during the 1940s before and during World War II. Leo invented what became the La-Z-Boy recliner, and the couple eventually moved to California. The Young family, initially led by Al and Rose, purchased the house in 1945, after the conclusion of World War II. The Youngs raised three children there: Richard, Elizabeth, and Jimmy. At 18, Richard got his girlfriend, Margaret, pregnant; they married and raised their daughter, Vanessa, in the house, eventually taking it over from Al and Rose.In the early 2000s, Richard and Margaret divorced, and Richard sold the house. Later occupants included Devon and Helen Harris and their son, Justin. Helen was devastated when their beloved housekeeper, Raquel, died of COVID-19. In the aftermath, Devon and Helen sold the house during the pandemic. As an elderly man, Richard brought Margaret-who now has dementia-back to the empty house in 2024. He reminded her of the time Vanessa, as a child, lost a ribbon from school, which triggered her memories of their shared life in the house.

    Storyline

    • From the reunited director, writer, and stars of Forrest Gump (1994) , Here is an original film about multiple families and a special place they inhabit. The story travels through generations, capturing the human experience in its purest form. Directed by Robert Zemeckis , written by Eric Roth and Zemeckis and told much in the style of the acclaimed graphic novel by Richard McGuire on which it is based, Tom Hanks and Robin Wright star in this tale of love, loss, laughter and life, all of which happens, right Here. — Columbia Pictures

    Movie Review

    Here

Robert Zemeckis’ fixed-camera observation of the passage of time is a slick and profoundly shallow movie aching for depth.
