Storyline

• Jake Doyle has come home for Christmas. He tells his daughter the story of how he got a Nintendo Entertainment System on Christmas Day in 1988 and his sister got a "real" Cabbage Patch doll. Telling him that video games are bad for kids will not stop young Jake and his friends. How far will they go? — Wiki Chicago, December 1988. More than anything, 11-year-old Jake Doyle wants the holy grail of home entertainment: an expensive, eye-popping video game console. With this in mind, Jake and his equally obsessed friends are prepared to go the extra mile to get the coveted third-generation entertainment system. However, the road to success is fraught with disappointment. Indeed, the stakes are high, and only a few lucky kids will have the chance to play the famous console.
