An actor with an impressive stage pedigree whom the movies have just begun to tap for his brilliance, Rory Kinnear (birthname: Rory Stewart Kinnear) is a famous name for followers of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and London’s West End. For moviegoers, however, Kinnear is mainly best known as MI6’s chief of staff Bill Tanner in the James Bond movies starring Daniel Craig: Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021). But Kinnear finally was cast in a film role more commensurate with his talents, as Det.

In Morten Tyldum’s The Imitation Game (2014), Nock is with Benedict Cumberbatch. Kinnear played several supporting roles in British films, including Rufus Norris’ Broken, with Tim Roth and Cillian Murphy, which competed at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. In 2018, he co-starred as Henry Hunt in Mike Leigh’s historical drama, Peterloo. But Kinnear finally reached the level of co-star in Alex Garland’s psychological drama, Men (2022), with Jessie Buckley

Personal life

Born in London, Rory Kinnear was raised by his parents, actors Ray Kinnear and Carmel Cryan. Rory had two sisters, one living sister, Kirsty, and another, Karina, who died of COVID-19 in May 2020. Rory Kinnear schooled at Tower House School and St. Paul’s School in London and graduated from Balliol College at Oxford University where he read English.

He studied theater at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. His partner is Pandora Colin, who is the daughter of the 5th Baron Harlech, Sir David Ormsby-Gore; the couple has two children, Riley and Hope. Kinnear’s height is 6’.
