Rory Culkin

Actor, Producer

Birthdate: Jul 21, 1989

Birthplace: New York City, New York, USA

A well-regarded member of the Culkin acting family, Rory Culkin has etched diverse roles that range from the extremes of human behavior to more subtle character portraits. The youngest of seven siblings, two of whom are Macaulay and Kieran Culkin, and the nephew of actor Bonnie Bedelia, Rory played alongside his older brothers in a group of movies as their younger selves, including Richie Rich (1994) as the younger Macaulay and Igby Goes Down (2002) as the younger Kieran.

In 2000, he made a major impact in one of the most impressive child performances of the past two decades, as Rudy, in Kenneth Lonergan’s You Can Count on Me, which earned him a best debut performance nomination from the Independent Spirit Awards. This led to a significant role in M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs (2002), and a flurry of critically-acclaimed indie and auteur movies including Fred Schepisi’s 2003 It Runs in the Family (in a cast including three generations of the Douglas family); Jacob Aaron Estes’s 2004 Mean Creek (which earned an ensemble prize in the Independent Spirit Awards); Arie Posin’s The Chumscrubber (2005); David Jacobson’s Down in the Valley; plus two features directed by Derick Martini, 2008’s Lymelife (with brother Kieran) and Hick in 2011.

This was the same year in which he vividly appeared as Charlie in Scream 4. His recent adult roles have ranged from the subtle shadings of his role in Kogonada’s acclaimed Columbus (2017) to a wild death-metal musician in Jonas Åkerlund’s Lords of Chaos (2018).
