Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr. was a career officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps and its successor the U.S. Air Force who rose to the rank of brigadier general. He is best known for commanding and piloting the B-29 Superfortress, Enola Gay when it dropped "Little Boy", the first atomic bomb used in warfare, on the Japanese city of Hiroshima during World War 2.
