Mo Tse (birthname: Mo Tse or Xie Miao) is a durable Hong Kong martial arts actor whose big screen career began when he was a child actor in director/co-writer Frankie Chan’s A Warrior’s Tragedy (1993), followed by his first of two movies starring Jet Li, The New Legend of Shaolin (1994), co-directed by Wong Jing (who was also the screenwriter) and Corey Yuen, and grossed over HK$19.3 million.

Mo appeared in director/writer Wong Jing’s contemporary Hong Kong drama-comedy, God of Gambler Returns (1994), starring Chow Yun-fat and Tony Leung Ka-fai and delivering over HK$52.5, and then Mo reunited with Jet Li and director Yuen for the Hong Kong action movie, My Father Is a Hero, aka The Enforcer (1995), with Anita Mui and Yu Rongguang and which earned HK$15.5 in Hong Kong and was released in the U.S. by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Mo co-starred in director/co-writer Siu-Ming Tsui’s Hong Kong-produced The Champions (2008), co-starring Dickie Cheung, Yu Rongguang, Mei-Fang Lu, and Debbie Goh, produced by Sundream Motion Pictures/China Film Co-Production Corporation/Shanghai CCN Culture & Communications Co., and which earned over $1.33 million globally.

Mo co-starred in the Mandarin and English-language martial arts movie, Empire of Assassins (2011), with Li Yuan, Sun Huining and Bryan Leung under Dou Xiao’s direction and produced by Du Xiaoming and Zhou Shaocheng, and then Mo’s next appearance in a major movie was in the cast of director/co-writer Tsui Hark’s action adventure, The Taking of Tiger Mountain (2014), starring Tony Leung Ka-fai, Kenny Lin, Hanyu Zhang, Yu Nan, Liya Tong, Geng Han, and which was released by Well Go USA Entertainment (U.S.)/Huaxia Film Distribution and Wuzhou Film Distribution (China)/Koch Media (Germany)/Metropolitan Filmexport (France)/Twin Co. Ltd. (Japan)/Noori Pictures (South Korea)/Vendetta Films (Australia) and returned a $141.6 million global gross.

Mo Tse led the cast of the Chinese fantasy comedy, Dream Journey (2016), with He Zhang and Yanni He under Ma Yun’s and Tan Qiao’s co-direction, as well as the sequels Dream Journey 2: Princess Iron Fan (2017), also co-directed by Ma and Tan, and Dream Journey 4: Biography of Demon (2018). Mo then joined the cast of wuxia fantasy movie, The Thousand Faces of Dunjia (2017), directed by Yuen Woo-ping and written by Tsui Hark and co-starring Da Peng, Ni Ni, Aarif Rahman, and Zhou Dongyu, and released by Well Go USA Entertainment (U.S.)/Aeon Pix Studios.

Mo starred or co-starred in several Mandarin-language action movies from the 2016 to 2024 period, particularly Ip Man: The Awakening (2021), co-directed by Li Xijie and Zhang Zhelin, produced by iQIYI and released by Well Go USA Entertainment (U.S.)/Program Store (France) and in multiple franchises in recurring roles in the Qiao Tan-directed trilogy, Great God Monkey (2020), Great God Monkey 2 (2020) and Great God Monkey 3 (2020); as the character Li Hongqi in Fight Against Evil (2021), Fight Against Evil 2 (2023), Curbing Violence (2024) and Fight Against Evil 3 (2026); and as the character Cheng Xiazi in Eye for an Eye (2022), Eye for an Eye 2 (2024) and Blade of Fury (2024). Mo co-starred in the English-language Hong Kong action movie,
The Furious (2025), co-starring Joe Taslim, Jeeja Yanin, Brian Le, and Yayan Ruhian under Kenji Tanigaki’s direction, co-produced by U.S.-based XYZ Films, premiering in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival, and is released wide by Lionsgate Films (International)/Edko Films (Hong Kong).

Personal life

Mo Tse was born and raised in Beijing, Mainland China, by his parents. Mo graduated from the Capital Institute of Physical Education in Beijing.
