Mariana Treviño (birthname: Mariana Treviño Ortiz) is an acclaimed actor on the Mexican stage, small screen, and in the cinema, and began to appear in Hollywood movies in 2018 in the Lionsgate-MGM rom-com, Overboard, directed by co-writer Rob Greenberg and featuring Eugenio Derbez, Anna Faris, Eva Longoria, Cecilia Suarez, and John Hannah, and grossing over $91 million worldwide.
Prior to this, Treviño had made a major name for herself in film and TV in Mexico, with her breakthrough in a supporting role in No sé si cortarme las venas o dejármelas largas (2013), followed by Club de Cuervos (2015) (the first Spanish-language Netflix original series), writer-director Manolo Caro’s rom-com, La vida inmoral de la pareja ideal (2016), and
El sueño del Mara'akame (2016)—nominated for 12 Ariel (Mexican “Oscar”) awards, including one for Treviño. Her first co-starring role was in director-producer Caro’s Perfectos Desconocidos (2018), a remake of Paolo Genovese’s 2016 Italian comedy, Perfetti sconosciuti (Perfect Strangers), co-starring Bruno Bichir and Suarez.
Mariana Treviño co-starred in a voice role in the animated superhero movie, La liga de los 5 (2019). Treviño’s Hollywood breakthrough was opposite Tom Hanks in the Marc Forster-directed A Man Called Otto (2022), the English-language film version of Frederik Backman’s best-selling 2012 novel, A Man Called Ove.
Mariana Treviño was born and raised in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey. Treviño’s height is 5’ 6”.
