Filipino-American actor and filmmaker Eugene Paolo Alejandro Macalma was born on December 2, 1986 in Manila, Philippines. He was raised in Richmond, Virginia. He is the son of Eleanor Macalma and Amante "JJ" Macalma. He is the second of three children, with an older brother, Eric, and younger brother, AJ.
