David Freyne is an Irish-born director/writer/producer who made six short films from 2008 to 2014 before he made his feature debut as director/writer of the zombie movie, The Cured (2017), starring and produced by Elliot Page (then Ellen Page), with Sam Keeley, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Stuart Graham and Paula Malcolmson, co-produced with funding sources in France, the U.K., Ireland and the U.S. and released by IFC Films.

Freyne switched genre gears to a coming-of-age LGBTQ teen comedy-drama, Dating Amber (2020), an Irish/British/American/Belgian co-production starring Fionn O’Shea and Lola Petticrew, with Sharon Horgan and Barry Ward, and released by Amazon Prime in cinemas and on streaming.

Freyne was director/co-writer of the fantasy romcom, Eternity (2025), co-written by Pat Cunnane, co-starring Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, and Callum Turner, with Da’Vine Joy Randolph, John Early, and Olga Merediz, and which launched at the Toronto Film Festival before a wide release by producer/distributor A24.

David Freyne was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, by his parents. Freyne attended and graduated from University College Dublin with a Master of Arts degree in film.
