Ashton John was born in East London, Hackney, on March 22, 1984. The son to parents of Caribbean decent, he majored in Broadcasting Factual Direction at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication but, after graduating he continued to work for Apple Inc. to support his filmmaking ambition. Although he has written and directed numerous short films including Little Man (2006) and Love Is (2009), he was publicly recognized for his work after the UK broadcaster Channel Four Television Corporation premiered his award-winning short film Please & Thanks (2010) as part of their 3 minute wonder on January 14, 2010.
