Five years after the Clarke comet destroyed most of civilization, the Garrity family has survived in an underground bunker near Greenland's Thule Air Base. When the bunker collapses, they are forced out into a devastated Europe with nothing but each other and a rumor that humanity has begun to rebuild somewhere in the south.
