Music Department, Actor, Composer

Birthdate: Oct 9, 1979

Birthplace: Los Angeles, California, USA

Born October 9 1979 in Los Angeles, California, also where he was raised and where he currently lives. Attended the same grade school as former Phantom Planet member and actor Jason Schwartzman, but lost contact with him until they were 14. Jason had told his classmates that he had band but he didn't have a singer, so he called up Alex remembering that he could sing, and Alex agreed. Not long after, Phantom Planet was formed, but in between their music, Alex appeared in the Gap adverts in 1999 ("Everybody in..."Cords"/"Leather"/and "Vests"") also using his singing talent. He also appeared in a few movies and made TV appearances, one being Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996) with the band. His most notable movie role has been Donnie Darko (2001) which also starred his good friend Jake Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore and Jena Malone. He is now currently focusing on his musical career with Phantom Planet and they have released three well-received albums: "Phantom Planet...Is Missing" (1998), "The Guest" (2002) and "Phantom Planet" (2004). The band who consists of Alex on vocals and guitar, Darren Robinson on lead guitar, Sam Farrar on bass/backup vocals and Jeff Conrad on drums, tours the United States frequently.
